The House returns on Monday, May 24th at 4 pm (with committees meeting at 3pm). The Speaker said they will be in session on Tuesday and Wednesday at least.
The Senate will return on Wednesday, May 26 at 4 pm. In a memo to his members, Cullerton said he "would anticipate not spending Memorial Day weekend in session... (but) it may be necessary depending on actions taken in the House of Representatives." The Senate has a committee hearing scheduled on Thursday morning, May 27th.
The most pressing issue is the Budget, both the revenue and spending sides as well as a budget implementation bill (BIMP). In the past they have passed finance, education and human service BIMPs. Prior to leaving on May 7th, these bill numbers were:
House – Budget: SB 1211; House Emergency Budget: SB 3660 (these are both on 2nd reading in the House)
Senate – Budget: HB 859; Senate Emergency Budget: HB 2428 (these are awaiting concurrence in the House)
SB 3662 – Finance BIMP (this is in the House on 2nd reading-no human service, or education BIMP has surfaced yet.)
They may use any of these bills or choose a new bill.
